Behentrimonium Chloride CAS NO. 17301-53-0 or 68607-24-9, also called Behenyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, Docosyltrimethylammonium Chloride, BTAC, Quaternary Ammonium Compounds C20-22-alkyltrimethyl Chlorides. Assay 80% in Isopropanol or 70% in DPG. Insoluble in water, soluble in Ethanol or Isopropanol aqueous solution. Store in a dark, cool, dry, and ventilated place. Made from Behenyl Dimethyl Amine(C20-C22 Alkyl Dimethyl Amine) and Methyl Chloride by quaternization reaction.

Application

Its long-chain alkyl group provides good hydrophobicity and surface activity, while the ammonium chloride group endows it with cationic properties, commonly used as an emulsifier, as a raw material for hair conditioners and shampoos.
Used as Hair Conditioners: widely used in both rinse-out and leave-in conditioners to provide superior conditioning and detangling benefits.
Used as Hair Masks and Treatments: included in deep conditioning masks and treatments to nourish and hydrate hair, leaving it soft and manageable.
Used as Shampoos: added to 2-in-1 shampoos and conditioning shampoos to enhance the hair’s texture and reduce static.
Used as an anti-static agent for textile fibers, an emulsifier for asphalt, rubber, and silicone oil. And it is widely used as a disinfectant.
